The theme for the 2019 Next Generation Dairying Workshop was Local and Global Consumers.
- Plenary speakers from different dairy research disciplines addressed the topic from the perspectives of production, primary product and processed product, all with a view to meeting the needs of consumers
- The five Small Grant Projects funded by the Hannah Dairy Research Foundation were previewed
- Open Submission sessions featured the work of younger dairy researchers
- A FarmerPreneur Panel of successful and innovative Scottish dairy farmers discussed how to build profitable and sustainable businesses through closer engagement with local consumers
- A major multinational processor described their relationships with consumers at home and abroad, including in developing countries
- Two new Dairy Innovation Centres planned for Scotland were featured
- The Workshop Dinner was held at the Whisky Experience on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. The After Dinner Speaker was Marie Haskell
