Supplementary files in JDR

JDR is published online and hard copy by Cambridge University Press. Supplementary material is published online only and is accessed via a link placed in the online and hardcopy article.

The Supplementary File option improves the quality of the original article by focusing it on the essential information. It also gives you the opportunity to include more detailed methodologies and data that would be impossible or impractical to include in the printed version. These data might substantially enhance the importance of the research and might also be of benefit to readers.

The supplementary file should normally be restricted to detailed methodologies, additional tables and figures which should be referred to in the text with the prefix "S" (e.g. Supplementary Table S1, Supplementary Figure S1) corresponding to the same text in the main article.

The supplementary file will not be copy-edited, and will be published essentially as supplied. It MUST be supplied as a single Word file which we will convert to a PDF file for publication. This file must incorporate all of the supplementary material arranged in a logical fashion.
Please make sure that the Supplementary File starts with the same title and author information as the original article. This text should be followed on the next line by the words "Supplementary File". The remaining content will normally comprise supplementary materials and methods (if needed) followed usually by the tables in order followed by the figures in order. Supplementary references may be added at the end of the file if you wish.

The supplementary file MUST be submitted by the same Corresponding Author as the original article.

The CUP platform also gives you the option to add other elements such as videos, 3-D structures/images, extensive datasets and any other supplementary material not suitable for print duplication.  If you have material of this sort please indicate that in the comments box.
Remember to press submit!

File upload can take several minutes. If there is a delay, please be patient.
