This form is for the submission of original research articles.
If you are wishing to submit a different type of article (including Research Reviews and Research Reflections), please use the dedicated form available here
Please submit your manuscript using this form. You should read the advice on the right hand side of the screen at each stage. Please note that nothing is saved until you press the submit button, and you cannot submit until all of the required information (indicated by red stars) is input. File upload can take several minutes. If there is a delay after you press submit, please be patient. When you submit you will receive an onscreen acknowledgement. We will contact you by email to confirm the submission, usually within a few days.
JDR strongly encourages brevity. You must make full use of our Supplementary File option for detailed methodologies and supporting data. If you do not add a Supplementary File you must provide a justification for why all of the materials need to be given in the main article. The submission acknowledgement page includes a link to the Supplementary File submission page. |
Before you submit your manuscript please ensure that it complies with the requirements of the Journal of Dairy Research. Non-compliant manuscripts will be returned without consideration. You are recommended to visit the Prepare your Manuscript page for Instructions to Authors, Example Papers and hints for increasing your chances of publication

Please ensure that you have read the Guidance in "Prepare Your Manuscript". Your manuscript will be returned if we consider that the research would be better submitted in a different format.
The name and email entered here will be taken to be that of the Corresponding Author, and manuscripts that do not comply will be rejected. The Corresponding Author MUST be able to take responsibility for ALL communication regarding the manuscript during Peer Review and, if successful, after publication. That requires a good appreciation of the English language. Please remember that “Corresponding author” is NOT a mark of status, it is a means of communicating.
We will assign a reference that will be first-author-surname followed by a unique number. All Corresponding Authors are required to join the JDR Community. Registration is once-only. It allows access to track your manuscript through Peer Review. If you are not already a Community Member we will register you and allocate username and password (you can change the password later). All contributors can request registration here
Please input your own country of residence, from where the manuscript is submitted. Do NOT enter more than one country.
If you or anyone from your group have previously submitted to JDR, please indicate that. If you have an ORCiD account please enter your ID number. This will help us to process and track your manuscript and will ensure that any published article is properly attributed to you. More.
Submission of a manuscript will be taken to imply that it reports original unpublished work, that it is not under consideration elsewhere, and that if accepted by the Journal it will not be published elsewhere in any language without the consent of the editors. Checking these boxes is indication that the Authors accept these and other conditions in the Instructions to Authors. Authors of accepted articles will be asked to assign their copyright, under certain conditions, to the Journal to help protect their material. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all authors consent to submission.
The Manuscript Profiling questions will enable us to identify an appropriate Editorial Board Member to handle Peer Review of your manuscript. This will speed up the evaluation.
For both questions, please choose one option from the drop down menu. If you cannot find an appropriate answer, choose the best option and add a comment to us (use the comments box at the end of the form). Primary profile: JDR's remit may be considered as a food chain extending from the nutrition of the dairy animal (feed) through whole-animal physiology to the biology of the mammary gland and then its product (milk), dairy foods generated from that product and finally to the consumer of dairy products. If you are unsure, please choose the earliest relevant stage of the food chain. Please provide short statements in support of your research. You can copy and paste text or type directly into the boxes. Remember the guidance for JDR articles: the purpose of the work must be clear, the work must add significantly to existing knowledge and the research must be capable of providing benefit to man or animals. These statements will be taken into account before and during Peer Review.
You MUST submit your manuscript as a single Word file comprising the full text followed by figures and tables. We cannot accept zip folders. There is no need to submit a separate summary.
JDR strongly encourages brevity and clarity. To keep your manuscript as short as possible, you should make full use of our Supplementary File option. Failure to do this may result in your manuscript being returned for revision.
If you have previously had a different version of the same manuscript/same research rejected by us, it will speed up the review process if you provide the reference number of the original manuscript
If you wish to identify potential referees please do so here. You can add names of individuals who you would prefer we did NOT approach for Peer Review in the comments box, giving reasons
Please only supply optional comments if it is essential to the process of considering your manuscript for publication |
